Seasons Greetings!

Enjoy your time with family and the ones you love. For me, Xmas is a time of reflection … an opportunity for you to show others that you really do care. It is also a time for you to relax and have fun. Wherever you may be, and whatever you may be doing, be safe. And don’t get hassled by the pressure of those New Year resolutions!

The Gift of Learning

Can’t think of what to give someone special? OK … what about the ‘gift of learning’? With Christmas fast approaching I'm sure you'll be interested to learn of Adult Education's new Gift Vouchers - an ideal gift for any occasion, especially at this time of the year.

The vouchers are available in denominations of $50, $75, $100, $150 and $200.

Please note, the vouchers have to be redeemed on Adult Education courses from where the voucher was purchased. In other words, when buying a voucher for a friend or relative, you would be advised to purchase the voucher from the region in which the course will be offered.

Gift vouchers can be purchased by phoning one of the regional Adult Education hotlines:

Southern Tasmania: 6233 7237
Northern Tasmania: 6336 2666
North West Tasmania: Burnie 6434 6282 Devonport 6421 7600

Text-Isle 07 Summer School

If you love textiles, Text-Isle 07 in Launceston is definitely for you. Textile artists of national and international renown are running a week of workshops in January, sharing their wealth of knowledge and experience.

As well as the workshops, there will be a bazaar, with traders, students and tutors buying and selling their wares. In the evenings, there will be free workshops and slideshows.

Many of the workshops are already full, however there are a few places remaining if you get in quick.

This is a super event and a genuine opportunity to learn from people at the top of their field of expertise. Even if you are not able to join the week long workshops, it would still be worthwhile dropping by to see everything else going on and to meet the people.

Autumn Course Guide Release Dates

Northern & Southern Regions: The course guide will available in your newspaper on Saturday 3rd February.
You can collect your Guide from all regional Adult Education centres and from Branch libraries.

North West Region SPECIAL NEWS ALERT: As North West coasters will know we have experimented with direct mailing of the Course Guide. However, in 2007 we are re-establishing our relationship with The Advocate, and a new look Guide will be published in the newspaper on Tuesday 6 February. It will be in tabloid rather than booklet format. Copies will also be available in branch libraries and Adult Education centres.

We are also happy to make special arrangements for your particular community to ensure you do receive the Course Guide information.

Adult Education Website: It is likely that the website will feature the new Autumn courses a day or so prior to the course guides hitting the streets. You will receive an email closer to the date, advising you of when you can log on and discover what fantastic new courses we have to offer.

And Finally...

Don't forget that I really do welcome your thoughts, ideas and suggestions about any aspect of YOUR Adult Education.

If you have an Adult Education success story that you'd like to share with others, through the media, please let me know!

On behalf of all of us at Adult Education, I wish you a very happy and safe Christmas, and that 2007 is a good one for you.

Regards,

Greg
