Information for Students

PAYMENT IS REQUIRED AT TIME OF ENROLMENT.  Your place in any course will be confirmed with payment at time of enrolment.

You can enrol online, by telephone, fax, mail or in person at an Adult Education Centre.  Invoices and staged payments are not available. Over the counter enrolments and payments will be possible from the 24th of August at Burnie Library, Devonport Library, Glenorchy Library and the HuonLINC. Contact details can be found here.

Refund Policy

A full refund is payable in the event that a class is cancelled.

If you withdraw from a class, a full refund is payable less a $20 administration fee up to 14 days before the commencement date of an advertised class.

No refund will be paid if withdrawal is 13 days or less than the advertised class commencement date.

Written applications for refunds will be considered for extenuating circumstances. Contact your local regional centre for an application.

Cancellations and changes

Adult Education does not guarantee delivery of its courses.  Classes will be cancelled if enough enrolments are not received 14 days before the class starts.  You will be notified if we have to cancel a course, or if dates or times are changed.  You will receive a full refund if a course is cancelled or if new dates or times are not suitable.

Liability

Students should make themselves aware of potential risks involved in a course before enrolling. Students of Adult Education are responsible for the costs of all their own medical or other expenses in the case of an incident occurring before, during or after an Adult Education course. Adult Education holds no cover for "no fault" accident insurance for injury to students or damage to property of students participating in Adult Education courses.

People with disabilities and special needs

Our tutors are skilled and have designed their courses to ensure that you are safe.  If you have special needs that may require arrangements to enable you to comfortably participate in our classes please discuss these with the organising Adult Education centre.  Please complete and return the Disability or Needs Assistance form [Word 178KB] or contact the organising Adult Education centre.

Concessions (Conc.)

Concessions are offered to Pensioners, Health Care Card holders and full time students. Concessions do not apply to all courses and the concession status of each course is specified in the guide.

Seniors Card (SC)

Discounts are available to holders of a Tasmanian Seniors Card.  This discount is available only to those not entitled to any other concession, and only applies to those courses that attract a concession rate.

Public Holidays

Classes are not held on public holidays unless otherwise advertised.

Course fees

Course fees include GST where requried under Taxation Guidelines and covers tutor fee and a levy for materials, equipment and facility usage. Your Course Information will advise if you need to bring other materials to your class at your expense.

Purchasing class materials

Please check your class information to see if you are required to purchase materials to be used in the class.  If you do need to purchase anything, do not do so any earlier than 7 days before the class starts, as occasionally classes are cancelled if not enough enrolments are received. Adult Education is not responsible for any outlays made by students for books or materials.

Minimum age

Adult Education provides a range of learning opportuntiies for adults from the age of 16 years. Younger people may be accepted in certain circumstances. Contact your local centre for further details.

Parent & Child/Teen

Classes advertised as Parent & Child/Teen offer activities that you can do with your child/teen that are fun, creative and educational. One child is admitted free with each parent/carer. A parent/carer must accompany the child/teen to all sessions.
