June Wilson
...blurring the lines in art
June tentatively went to her first art class 16 years ago with Adult Education in Queensland. This was the beginning of her journey as an artist. She then went on to study fine arts at TAFE in Queensland before beginning to teach.
June loves sharing her skills as much as doing the art itself saying, “I love enthusing people to try different art forms.”
After moving to Tasmania she taught both privately and for Adult Ed in the Smithton area for six years. She established an art society and biennial art exhibition, both of which are still in existence.
Now living in the Devonport area she will offer classes in Devonport and in Smithton. June specialises in pastels and mixed media but has another string to her bow with Folk Art, which she discovered when she was undergoing oncology treatment. She found that it offered her something to do that didn't require a large amount of equipment. She loved it and began specialising in Australiana and floral designs. June says that she loves blurring the lines of the different art fields, and encouraging others to do the same.
