Peter Greiner

Peter at workPeter has been designing and building homes and renovations in Northern Tasmania for the past thirty years. In 1988 he graduated from the University of Tasmania with degrees in Environmental Design and Architecture.

Since then he has continued his association with the University both as a part time tutor and lecturer, whilst maintaining his own building design practice. As well, Peter has enjoyed teaching passive solar and interior design courses with Adult Education in the North of Tasmania. Peter is now based in the Northwest and offered an exciting range of courses in the Autumn Course Guide. Keep an eye out for his Spring offerings!

Peter believes that thoughtful design especially in buildings has a great influence on how people appreciate their day-to-day life. For example: ‘Looking out through a carefully placed small window in the kitchen at a special tree can mean the difference between a pleasant and gloomy morning for years to come. Or waking up with a small patch of sunlight striking your favourite pictures in the bedroom is very different from seeing the same old dark painted wardrobe year in year out.'

He places a high priority on working with his students to ensure that their special ideas and requirements are included in their design studies as much as possible.

Recently Peter and Tessa have designed their own home and as owner builders have current experience in the enjoyment of seeing ideas slowly change into floors, walls, windows and roof. At the same time they gained up to date knowledge of the new regulations and obligations of owner builders.

Peter's other interests include freehand and computer drawing, graphics, sailing, photography and ceramics.
